As with most of these montages, I used a song featured in the actual film itself and this time I chose Portishead's haunting cover of S.O.S. by ABBA. Is Portishead the most heart-breaking band out there? They are to me. Such beautiful music but so thoroughly depressing.
This film is gorgeous. Based on the novel by JG Ballard, director Ben Wheatley gives us a gruesome story of class warfare confined to a vertical battlefield.
I'm fascinated by director Ben Wheatley's work with screenwriter Amy Jump. From crime to horror to black comedy, their characters are relatable with arcs as satisfying as the gore they leave in their wake.
